STATUS:
Completed 2010
The project is a complete remodel of a 7,000 Sq. Ft. private residence, along with a 3,000 Sq. Ft. addition. Most interior elements of the existing house were removed, and the space was reconfigured for a more open floor plan. The home sits on the edge of a mountain of volcanic rock and desert landscape, so the relationship between interior and exterior was very important. The living room contains a wall of glass with two 9’x12’ sliding doors that open up to the mountain, while new roof projections open up views of the mountain to the interior spaces of the home. Extensive 3D modeling allowed the maximum use of glass in locations that wouldn’t be receiving direct sunlight.
